Find the serial number for 6000 CD radio models manufactured between 2004 and 2014 directly on the display. To do this, you must turn on the unit and press and hold buttons 1 and 6. You will be able to see your serial number in one of the following formats:
If you have a 6000 CD RDS EON unit (1998 - 2003), you can only find the serial number on the label attached to the case. Some model units manufactured between 2004 and 2008 do not show the number on the display, so you must also look at the label. You must remove your 6000 CD RDS EON or 6000 CD (2004-2008) radio to see the label with the information.
This radio model manufactured between 2008 and 2015 allows you to display the serial number on the screen. To do this, turn on the unit and press and hold buttons 1 and 6 for a few moments. Different data will start to appear on the display. Your serial number appears in this format: SOCD1XV100012.
UnlockIf you have a model not mentioned above, you can still retrieve the radio code, but you can only find the serial number on the label attached to the side of the radio. To see this label, you must remove your unit. Examples of valid serial numbers:
The 6000 CD and 4500 RDS EON models have a maximum of 10 attempts to enter the correct code. You can see how many attempts you make on the right side of the screen. If you have reached the tenth failed attempt, the unit locks itself so that it no longer does anything when you touch the buttons. To bypass this lock, press and hold button 6 for ten seconds. You have three more attempts, after which the stereo unit gets blocked semi-permanently; only a dealership can unlock it.
In theory, all model 6000 CD units manufactured between 2003 and 2007 should display the serial number on the screen. However, in practice, this identifier is not shown in some cases. In this case, the only way to find the serial is by removing the unit from the console's center. You will find this information on the label attached to the side and top of the stereo unit.
Depending on the model, the extraction process is different and is done with different types of tools. For example, removal is effortless for models older than 2004 because it can be done using two screwdrivers. For newer models, you will need special removal keys. You can purchase these tools at any hardware store or on Amazon or visit a mechanic and ask him to help you with the removal.
If you have a V or M serial number, it is possible to get your code for free using the Ford radio code generator app. You can use this web alternative if you don't have an Android device. These solutions are free, but you may have to wait up to 24 hours to receive your unlock pin.
First, ensure you have entered the correct serial number and copied it from the unit label, not from the card or anywhere else. The serial and code you have on the card may belong to the original car audio system, which has been replaced. However, if the serial is the same as on the label and still does not work, your unit may have been tampered with (code changed). Whatever your case, don't complicate things, and contact us via chat; we will do everything possible to solve it.
To enter the code for your Ford radio, start by turning on the unit and ensuring you read "Code" or "Enter code". Repeatedly press button 1 to enter the first digit of the code. Do the same with buttons 2, 3, and 4. Confirm the code by holding down button 5. If your radio is a Sony CD, press asterisk (*) for confirmation.
